What Modern Day Saint are you?
What Modern Day Saint are you and why? Please write and tell me. I may even post it!
This blog is a new work in progress dedicated to the philosophy that we are all saintly and perfect in someway-- from whimsical to diabolical. It's that little something about ourselves we recognize as a whole and undeniable truth. Unlike traditional Patron Saints it may not always be a good thing, but it is always a true thing. Years ago a friend of mine told me about a mean girl she didn't like at all but still she described her as perfect-- perfect in her meanness-- and it was meant as a compliment! I saw the strange logic in it and have carried the thought around all this time. Where this goes who knows but I'm finding it very entertaining to find out what kind of Modern Day Saint each one of us sees ourselves as. I've been asking people and will be posting them too.
I've appointed myself the Saint of Unreasonable Expectation. I just can't help myself. I'm forever hopeful even in the face of impossibility believing that I can have what I want despite the odds. This unfailing notion is both a blessing and a bugaboo! When it works-- and it often does-- it's glorious. When it doesn't I may be momentarily crushed but then the glimmer begins again-- the spark of hope ignites and a new approach considered. It reminds me of the phoenix and spontaneous combustion. What a visual! But the bugaboo-- Letting go is the hard part. As Kenny Rogers sang "You gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run..." and this is the one part I have yet to master. Like I said, a work in progress... :)
